What I do to help your business.
Research: Primary research involves gathering data that has not been collected before. Research can take many forms and depends on the problem you are looking to solve. Interviews, and focus groups will give a rich descriptive understanding, whereas experiments and data analysis can provide factual evidence.
Business analysis: To improve a business process, you must first understand it. I identify key areas of improvement for efficiency through business process mapping and analysis.
Business intelligence: Convert data into insights. Business intelligence is the process of structuring and communicating data.
Modelling and analytics: A process can be represented through the data it generates. Using this data to run hypothetical scenarios or make projections can help you plan or alter course.
Project management for data projects: All projects require active management of scope, time and spend. My experience can help you manage these three pillars when embarking on a new data project with diverse teams.
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.
My process is simplistic, iterative, and open to discovery.
We conquer complexity by circulating through phases of
exploration, building, verification, and production:
Starting with business understanding: Identifying decision makers, finding processes that generate data and evaluating the actions of each decision maker.
Followed by data understanding: Identifying correct and creating appropriate data sources.
Data preparation and data modeling happens in parallel: Focussing on cleaning data and structuring it for the modelling phase. Once the data is clean and prepared for the current iteration, calculations and modelling can commence.
Finally, the evaluation phase allows us to test if the result is feasible for the iteration outcome. The data model is either deployed or re-entered into the next cycle iteration.
